What is 'ma'?

Japanese “Ma” is a unique sense which is similar to “Interval” in English.

Invisible things — such as object and object, person and person, a space between person and object, time, relations, and opportunities, such formless things are included as part of ma. They don't mean"invisible=nothing" but every existence is made all the time responding each other.

I create my pieces by converting such emotional and ambiguous senses to my work with regularity.

Some objects are created by drawing, removing information, and others are arranged on a grid, embossing  paper, losing the individuality of each motif, transforming to an abstract shape. Various inks are overlapped , and when the integrity of details such as texture and rubbed colors reach a certain level, the screen is sublimed where existence and nonexistence echo each other.

It is not "Nonexistence" but "Existence" such as action or presence which is created in the world where we live. But we also need "Nonexistence" to expand feeling, thinking, and imagination which make "Existence" smooth.
